Crab

The Crab is a small mob that lives in Mangrove Swamps and on Beaches.

Spawning

Crabs spawn commonly in Mangrove Swamps, and rarely on Beaches. They are said to be found more commonly in the rain.

Behavior

A crab scuttles sideways much faster than it moves forward. It can climb the sides of blocks, and is sometimes found resting there.

Crabs are tempted by Kelp, and feeding it to a crab will excite it for breeding.

A calm crab waves its claw at a nearby player.

Hitting an adult crab makes it hostile for one minute. While it still has its claw and at least half its health, it slowly approaches the player, attacking for 3 damage. Below half health, or once it has lost its claw, it runs away.

Drops

Blocking a crab’s attack with a shield knocks off its Crab Claw. The claw grows back after twenty minutes.

The crab drops nothing on death.
